Exclusive: Al Jazeera Sports Network Wins Serie A US TV Rights, Say Source
EXCLUSIVE: Al Jazeera Sports Network has won the US TV rights to Serie A, beginning with the 2012-13 season, according to a source.
The news comes hot on the heels of last week’s exclusive story by sister site La Liga Talk that Al Jazeera has also won the US TV rights to La Liga for seasons 2012-13 onwards. With La Liga and Serie A under their belt, Al Jazeera now owns rights to two of the top European soccer leagues that are aired on US television and the Internet.
FOX Soccer currently owns the US rights to Serie A, and will continue to broadcast Serie A games for the remainder of the season with commentators Christian Miles and Christopher Sullivan. When reached for a reaction to the news, a FOX Soccer spokesperson said ‘no comment.’
Questions surrounding how Al Jazeera Sports Network plans on broadcasting Serie A and La Liga games next season remain unanswered. Expect more details to be announced in the coming months.

I don’t care who broadcasts the games, so long as we’re spared
those boring idiots Miles & Sullivan. They’ve made Serie A
unwatchable, and forced me to watch on ESPN3 or download. It’s
obvious FOX doesn’t care at all about Serie A after taking such a
nasty dump on their viewers. Bring on Al Jazeera!
What non-Americans also aren’t understanding is that here in the US
there isn’t just one cable or satellite company. Unlike in New
Zealand if you want more than 8 channels you get SkyNet, here in
the US you pay for your local company. If you live on Long Island
(which only has one cable company) then you understand how slow the
company is in carrying new networks. We just got BBC America last
summer. So for Non-Americans who aren’t understanding. With Al
Jazeera winning the rights to various leagues, its possible fans of
teams or leagues who are watching their teams on TV right now, may
not be able to do so for a few seasons or more
There is news today that News Corp (Sky/Fox Soccer) is thinking of
converting one of their existing properties into a national sports
channel in the US similar to ESPN. One of the channels that
Bloomberg mentioned as a potential conversion candidate is Fox
Soccer.
You realize thus considerably relating to this subject, made me individually believe it from numerous numerous angles. Its like women and men aren’t involved except it is one thing to do with Woman gaga! Your own stuffs great. All the time handle it up!
I have been browsing on-line more than three hours as of late, but I by no means found any interesting article like yours. It’s pretty value enough for me. In my view, if all website owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the internet will probably be a lot more helpful than ever before.
