Serie A Talk

This is the 1st Serie A Team Of The Week for 2009.  So the squad that earns the prize this week is fortunate enough to have the honor of being the first.  Anyway, the winner played matches and/or made headlines during the calendar week of Jan. 5 - 11. The winner of the 1st Serie A Team Of The Week for 2009 is:

The team located on the heel of Italy’s famed boot defeated Fiorentina in Firenze (Florence to the non-Italian speakers) 2 - 1 to pull themselves out of the relegation zone and put a surprising dent I Viola’s chances for a European spot.  Salentini got goals from Uruguayan midfielder Guillermo Giacomazzi and the game winner from Argentine striker José Ignacio Castillo in the 28th minute as Lecce crawled out of the relegation zone.   Salentini now sit 2 points above 18th place Torino.  When a recently promoted side struggling to stay up can get a big road win versus a Top 5 caliber side like Fiorentina, you got to show them some love.  Therefore, Unione Sportiva Lecce wins the honor of being the 1st Serie A Team Of The Week for 2009.
